What is DermNet volunteering?

Volunteering with DermNet is a way for you to get more involved within the field of dermatology.

DermNet PRO features many opportunities both internally at DermNet or externally with our partner organisations.

Opportunities range from one-off projects to regular commitments over a set period of time.

If you are a healthcare professional with an interest in dermatology, and want to get more experience in the field, these opportunities are the perfect place to begin.

Volunteering is also a great way to connect with other healthcare professionals in the dermatology sphere, from around the world.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

  • Increasing your own knowledge base
  • Connecting with peers
  • Association and relationship with DermNet
  • Gaining DermNet PRO merit points (see below)
  • Gaining a variety of new practical skills
  • Making a positive impact for patients worldwide
  • Giving back to the international medical community.

Who can volunteer?

Volunteer opportunities are available to anyone registered on the DermNet PRO platform.

Each opportunity has specific selection criteria, and if you have the skills and interest, you are encouraged to apply.

Opportunities cater to individuals across a spectrum of experience levels, spanning from students to seasoned professionals.

What does volunteering involve?

While some opportunities may require your physical presence, most are remote and can be completed from your desk.

There will be a range of tasks that require various levels of input, time, and experience.

Examples of entry-level opportunities include presenting at a local school on sun protection, keeping abreast of developments in dermatology research and flagging these to our news team, or helping with data entry.

Other opportunities may involve your help with research initiatives, writing and reviewing topics, community education, creating content for social media, reviewing cases, processing images, or leading a project.

How does it work?

The volunteer process is all managed through the DermNet PRO platform.

You can browse and apply for opportunities through the platform that you are interested in.

Opportunities are available world wide so you can find something in your local area or branch out and participate internationally.

If you are successful in applying for an opportunity, you will be guided each step of the way from start to finish.

Merit points

By participating in volunteer opportunities, you can gain points. Merit points allow you to earn recognition within DermNet and advance through different tiers.

Merit points can be earned for volunteer participation and can be used to get discounts on education, subscriptions and products as well as to progress through DermNet PRO user tiers. More on this to come.

DermNet Volunteering has a wide range of opportunities available across the globe for all preferences and skill levels.

If you interested in dermatology but have little or no experience in the field, volunteering is a great way to begin your journey.

And if you are an experienced professional in dermatology, there are plenty of opportunities for you to give back.

Join the DermNet PRO waitlist to receive updates on this and other upcoming PRO features.
